GarageBand is an application on Mac computers that we discussed in class last period. I think that GarageBand is really neat because it provides the necessary tools for people to use to make music and videos! Since I am in Professor Weisgerber's Public Relations for Non-profits as well as this class, I learned a little bit about GarageBand in that class as well through our client that my group is working for. Tina Williamson, our client who is in the process of starting the website Women Worldwide, told us a neat thing that people have been doing with GarageBand. She has a friend that works at the children's terminal cancer center for a local hospital. She encountered children everyday that thought it would be neat to be able to write and record their own music. She told the children one day to write a poem about themselves. After they had done this, Mac donated computers for the day at the hospital and the children got to use the GarageBand application to make their poem into a song. Through the application GarageBand, they were able to record and edit their songs and burn them onto a CD. I thought that this story was really touching, and I think that it is really special that Garageband can make such a difference in someone's life.

GarageBand 3 is easy to learn and use, can record as many as 8 tracks at once, and supports as many as 255 tracks simultaneously. The program also includes more than 1,000 loops, plus a large array of software instruments as well as handy podcasting tools, and it lets you add a variety of effects to any loop or instrument. GarageBand makes the iLife suite an incredible bargain.

Garageband has more of an impact and purpose then I thought. This story about the children recording music at the hospital on this program is very touching. This form of technology probably never intended this sort of purpose in the making of the program, but I am sure is touched that the program can be used for such a great opportunity. I am eager to learn more about the program myself.
Garage Band is a great program. Once you get the hang of it, it's extremely easy and beneficial to know. It makes podcasting easy and fun with all the gadgets you can incorporate. Definitely recommend for people to try.
